Child
Care Payment Program
WHAT IS IT?
The Child Care Payment
Program provides full or partial payment for child care in a child
care setting of the parent's choice while the parent is working,
in training, seeking employment, or resolving a situation of child
abuse or neglect.
This program is funded
by the Child Development Division of the California Department of
Education. Coordination is implemented by Valley Oak Children's
Services in Butte County.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
To be eligible for subsidized
child care through the Child Care Payment Program, the following
conditions must be met:
- Parental income must
not exceed the limits set by the California Department of Education.
- Parents must be working,
enrolled in an accredited school or training program, or seeking
employment;
-OR-
A written referral from
an appropriate legal, medical, or social service agency may establish
eligibility for subsidized care under any of the following conditions:
- Children who are
in need of protection from or are at risk of abuse, neglect, or
exploitation;
- Children with special
needs which cannot be met without the provision of child care.
HOW DO I APPLY
FOR THE CHILD CARE PAYMENT PROGRAM?
To apply call Valley
Oak Children's Services at (530) 895-3572 or outside of Chico and
Paradise (800) 345-8627. The staff will place you on an eligibility
list and notify you when there is space available on the program.
The income eligibility list is based on need and income, with the
lowest income families receiving first priority.
